Beautiful light anytime, anywhere!

Lighting can either make or break an image. Whether you prefer shooting outdoors with natural light, or indoors with a flash, how you use light will define your style! Beautiful and consistent lighting is the key to an elevated and more memorable brand.

Sometimes I got lucky given the right circumstances, but I was unable to consistently deliver when the lighting changed. It became my mission to really understand how light worked, and to be able to recreate my signature look every single time. Mastering light is how I distinguished my brand, and stood out even in a market as saturated as Los Angeles. I am excited to share with you my knowledge so you can master light too!

All About Light is comprehensive without being overwhelming. Each section is broken into digestible bites and the flow of the course is easy to navigate and even skip around in. Caroline is easy to listen to and is approachable in the way she speaks. I love the practical examples and hands-on demonstrations. I especially love the dappled light lesson. The best part is how she gets out there and shows you how the light and shade falls on her.”

YOU MIGHT BE THINKING...

I'm a natural light shooter. I don't need flash.

Don’t get me wrong, I love natural light and prefer it when it’s available, but what happens when it's not available? Flash allows you the flexibility to shoot in ugly indoor lighting as well as after dark.

Why do I need to learn how to shoot at high noon? I'll just keep booking all of my shoots during golden hour.

Sure, you absolutely can! However, if you shoot weddings, most timelines will involve shooting portraits in the middle of the day, so you will need to learn how to navigate harsh midday hours. If you shoot children, golden hour isn't usually the best time for them. Plus, think about how freeing your schedule would be if you could shoot while your friends are at work too, and available to hang out with them more when they're off work. My favorite time to shoot is while my kids are at school!

Flash looks so artificial and unflattering!

Only if used that way! Flash and strobes can actually be easily set up to look like natural light!

Do I need flash if I have a video light?

Flash and continuous light each has their advantages. We compare and contrast the two in this course so that you’ll be able to pick which one is right for your situation!

Shooting with a strobe or flash seems really overwhelming.

I used to think so too, until I realized how artificial light behaves just like natural light, and can be manipulated the same way!

I don't have space or money to set up a studio.

You actually don't need a lot of space or money! The set up I use only requires ONE LIGHT and can be done in a very small space!

Can this course help me with weddings?

As a minimalist photographer, let me share with you my simple approach to lighting at weddings, without any complicated set ups!

Consistently nailing my exposure would make my life so much easier, but it's so hard!

Did you know there are only a handful of variables when determining your exposure? Three for natural light and four for artificial light. And did you know there's a fool-proof trick to adjusting your settings from front to backlit that will help you nail your exposure quickly between the two?

I wish my photos always looked more dreamy. How do you get those light and airy photos every single time?

It becomes second nature once you understand how light works. I also have go-to tricks and strategies to beautify even the ugliest light. It can be acheived with both natural and artificial light! I’ll show you how to navigate my favorite lighting setups, and how to manipulate the light to produce dreamier photos.
